Resistance is such a force, as is stubbornness. It takes people with great skills, understanding and expertise to help others move though the self-inflicted behaviours that create hiccups and stagnation in the flow of life and evolution.
I am putting my hand up here and admitting that I was in a state of intense resistance when it came to the recent upgrade of the way the world views my services, via my website. My heart goes to Helen Barber of 2B Creative for her persistence, visions and patience.
Some designers, graphic artists and advisers, can just go with what the client says, and yes that is what we ask from them, but to find people who see you as you could be, or how your business could be, takes trust and faith from both sides..
When it came to the crunch, I wanted to grow into a vision that I have been working towards, however to see myself through the eyes of another person, was challenging ( and nearly all of us experience this) well that is a whole series of blogs .hehehe.
Part of Helens expertise is to listen to a person’s ideas for what they want to create, yet with her background in marketing, business and graphic art, she can objectively deliver something that represents the true potential of her client.
My wobble came about when I was uncomfortable with the image of myself chosen for the web banner. I kept saying. “That isn’t me”….From a person who lives in ‘fern gully’ clothes and had hidden behind a crystal heart, to a polished person in a business jacket standing in the front of my site, was a blind leap into the unknown.
So when the day arrived, I was already in a ‘soft’ (vulnerable) state, and when Helen asked the correct questions, I HAD to answer, and then the whole process took on a new direction. Not only did I get clearer on what I want to deliver from my services, we found the core of my business is one that is “the Catalyst for change”. I had to surrender into trust and faith to allow that process.
As I watched the graphics of those 4 simple words drop onto the banner, something in me went AHHHHHHH., and the energetic shift was felt by both of us. I actually understood the awareness that Helen had been attempting to show me.
This is the year for many people to step up and take their visions, services, business and their messages to a greater audience and a bigger more expansive playing field. There is no more time to play small, to hide, and to be less than……all of us have important roles to play in whatever field of business we are engaging in.
If your heart is in it, you will do well, in fact you will thrive, as long as you can surrender the resistance to being seen as you truly are.
