RELEASING THE OLD, EMBRACING THE UNKNOWN
When life comes to a place where changes are not just imminent, they are compulsory, you have to have the courage to take that step out of the comfort that has been your cocoon and really spread the wings, and as a fledgling, learn how to fly
A beautiful friend had a life changing situation explode her life apart and shatter every belief of who she thought she was and what she was capable of, into a void where all she could do was to dissolve.
Through the dissolution of her perceived reality came a beautiful blank canvas that has slowly been added to daily, on a myriad of levels and the picture of who she sees every day reflected in that painting, is one of a woman who has claimed her birth right, owned her truth, embraced her strengths and adventures forward into the unchartered waters of life and all the experiences that are waiting for her.
The last part of this was to leave her home and journey to another state, to bring this vibrant, colourful, breathing, evolving canvas and all its wisdom to others. There is ALWAYS light at the end of the tunnel and for this woman, she chose to walk towards it, each step at first tentative, but finally gaining powerful strides towards that brilliance of her own spirit. Each day and every step that she took was one of realisations, forgiveness, compassion, and reweaving her soul.
So my part was to be at her side as she left one phase of life to step into another exciting, unknown stage. To be able to offer a way to symbolically release her from the last part of her past life, the home that harboured all her dreams, aspirations, goals and future, and to stay by her side as she drove towards the life of the unknown, one that holds incredible promise where she has a willingness to dance with life daily, laugh with the experiences, immerse herself in the creation of her future and where ever that takes her.
To assist with the transition we did a ceremony to release her home, and have her reclaim all her parts from this place, and to formally say goodbye to the place that kept her safe in a world that was her life. It was also the chance for her home, as it had grieved as well, to release her into another way of being.
We gathered in the kitchen, the heart of the home, and each person in the group spoke of their experiences in that part of the house. Each room was visited, and the process repeated. The stories, the sharing’s the wisdoms, brought tears up, laughter, perhaps something’s that were never spoken of, but all in great reverence to the house that had held her heart and family safe for many years.
As we left each room, the last person out was my friend and she would sweep the room, saying her thankyous, and taking her energy out of each room, and reclaiming that back into her soul.
The children’s bedrooms were visited just with her and the child from each room and they had the privacy to exchange the intimacy that a parent has with their child, the nurturing that only a mother can offer her children through all traumas, events and learning’s of life
The end saw us move out into the back yard where an altar had been established, lit with candles under the ‘tree of life’ in the middle of their yard.
The full moon showered us with the blessings of illuminated support. Here we are able to fully release the house and her owner from each other with love, gratitude, respect and the knowing that each had fulfilled their responsibility to the other.
The ceremonies that we can create in life are important to signify new beginnings, endings, special occasions, or simply to honour a moment that means something to us personally.
This farewelling ceremony allowed the group to hold a space for each other and to support the owner of the house at a time where this was the last step of letting go from her previous life.
As we wandered back into the house, the energy was lighter, there seemed to be more space, and the owner, my beautiful hearted friend was then completely ready for the road trip to her new life.
