THE YEAR OF SELF LOVE PART 2

We understand the call to step up to ‘The Year of Self-Love’ in theory; however the next step is applying it on a practical level in life. This is where things can either be simple or could be extremely challenging, that is up to you.

If you decide to retreat into the old patterns of how your mind has been conditioned to respond and at times, reject new ideas,  Yes you read correctly, we do reject new ideas without even understanding how or why, then change will be challenging. This is because we often choose to live in our heads, allowing our mind to master us, instead of our minds being the engine that carries out what our heart knows it wants.

Lack of self-love can present in many forms. Low self-worth or self-esteem, body issues, self-harm, weight problems, depression, emotional instability, lethargy, confusion, feelings of overwhelm and the list grows. When we are in this cycle, it is so bloody hard to embrace self-love, because if you don’t have it, you don’t know what it feels like. You only know that you are living a life of trying to fit in with others, keep up with friends and societal expectations, and we adopt behaviours that keep us trapped in the same cycle. We lose faith in ourselves, our feelings, our beliefs and life in general

So may I suggest, that instead of setting resolutions for a year, begin with setting a resolve for each day. That is as easy as it gets.

Wake each morning, meet yourself, greet yourself and set the intention and resolution that you want to bring to your life as you choose to practise more self-love, just for that day only. Like putting one foot in front of the other, treat each day as the steps to the the general theme you have for the year.

The overall goal for the year is there, but the baby steps will get you to the end result. A year consists of months, weeks, hours, minutes and seconds…and by looking at our daily life the same way, we are on the road to achieving so much for ourselves, which could become permanent habits as acts of self-appreciation.

Every single thing we do for ourselves from a place of knowing, love and truth, reaps rewards so great, that you will LOVE how you feel about you in all that you do.

No matter what the obstacle is, there is always something that you can do for yourself to move towards embracing love of self completely. A change of thought, setting time aside to have treatments for yourself, making space for meditation, exercise, fun and playtime, perhaps asking for some help, DE cluttering, detaching from any drama that is not yours, catching that negative comment towards yourself and immediately changing it to a beautiful loving thought.

Some people need professional help to move towards this goal, and you need to know there is no shame in that, remember that is an act of self-responsibility, truth and LOVE. We all want to be better, improve ourselves, not through the eyes of judgement from others, but purely because we want that for our own self and quality of life.

So today, allow this year of self-love to be the ‘theme’, and each day, you decide what you will do to increase that awareness in your life.  By the years end, you will be radiating a confidence in yourself, a deep sense of appreciation for all that you have gifted yourself and assisting others to experience that sense of self love in their lives. As you transform, you guide others along the way.

Self-Love is your birth right, claim it, breathe life into it and gently fall into its embrace.
